Top 10 for Patison in NASCAR K&N Pro Series East
March 29, 2010
After some struggles in 2009 Jason Patison Racing used the off-season to rebuild, changes were made to personnel, the shop was moved to North Carolina to be closer to NASCAR resources and new set-ups were tested.  On March 27th, Jason Patison and team traveled to Greensville Pickens, SC for opening day of the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East, eager to see if all their hard work would pay off like they expected.

During tine trials it was evident that the team was indeed much improved as Patison circled the ½ mile track at a time of 20.99 qualifying him 10th out of the 32 entrants.  “We knew that this track is hard on tires so we went a little softer on our set-up, we knew we would give up a little qualifying but would be better at the end of the race when it counts.  Starting in the top 10 with a car that we know is good on long runs is just where we want to be,” said Patison before the race.

When the green flag dropped for the 150 lap event, Patison hung with the lead pack but radioed in that the car was very loose on entry and exit in the corner.  Unfortunately as the tires started to wear out the problem got worse and Patison was unable to move through the field as they had hoped.  For the remainder of the race Patison focused on holding his line around the bottom of the track and avoided several accidents that accounted for 6 yellow flags and 1 red flag.  When the checkered flag flew Patison brought the Lucas Oil, E3 Sparkplugs Chevrolet home in 9th place.  “We knew something wasn’t right, because we tested here in the offseason and the car was great, once we got the car back to the shop the guys found out that the locker in the rear end had broke.  It’s a little disappointing because I know how strong this team is but all things considered, a top 10 is a great way to start the season, the car is in one piece, and we have some really nice momentum going into our next event,” said Patison.

The team’s next event is April 3rd at South Boston Speedway.  All of Jason Patison Racing’s events will be televised on the SPEED channel so check your local listings for airtimes and visit www.jasonpatison.com or www.lucasoil.com for more info.  Jason Patison would like to thank all of his sponsors for their support:  Lucas Oil Products, E3 Sparkplugs, RockStar Energy Drink, GEICO Powersports, R&L Carriers, MagnaFLow Exhaust and SpeedCo.
