Back-to-Back Podiums for Patison
May 09, 2011

Jason Patison at Toyota Speedway

Back-to-Back Podiums for Patison Coming off a third place finish, Jason Patison and his number 17 Super Late Model team headed back to Toyota Speedway looking to build on their momentum.  The team had been experimenting with some new set-ups in search of a little more speed around the ½ mile oval, but after struggling to find consistent lap times they made the call to revert back to a previous set-up.

"We tried some things and we just didn't have the same corner speed that we used to, we decided to go back to a set-up from our last race, but with the weather and track conditions being a little different we just weren't as fast as last time," explained Patison.

Patison qualified in the third position with a time of 17.74 and after a 10-car invert, he lined up 8th for the start of the 75-lap main event.  When the green flag dropped Patison immediately dropped to the low line to work his way through traffic by lap 20 he had moved up to fourth place.  Shortly after passing for fourth a red flag was thrown for a car that went hard into the turn 3 wall.  After a 20min delay the race went back green and Patison raced hard with the leaders, Patison was up to 3rd with 10 laps to go and was working on the second place car of Ryan Partridge.  Patison pulled side by side several times but was not able to complete the pass, he finished the race in third.

"That was a fun race, we were just too tight in the center to get by the leaders, I'm happy to bring this MAV TV, E3 Sparkplugs Ford home in one piece, we'll do some homework and come back better next race," said Patison in post race interview.

The podium finish moves Patison up to 3rd place in the 2011 NASCAR Whelen Series championship standings.
