A Rough Weekend for Jason Patison
Jason Patison driver of the #17 NASCAR Camping World Series West car, did not have the weekend they were hoping for at Infineon Raceway.  During the group qualifying session on Friday, Patison’s laps were hindered by cars blowing up and spinning out, including a spin out of his own, relegating him to start 30th out of the 42 entrants.

Runner-up Finish for Patison at Toyota Speedway
Jason Patison and his new E3 Sparkplugs/Dixie Chopper team traveled to Irwindale this past weekend to debut their #17 Super Late Model in a pair of 40 lap races at Toyota Speedway.  After spending most of the Friday night session working all of the “bugs” out of the recently finished car, the team knew they had their work cut out for them to get up to speed on Saturday.  After making the most of the 35 minute practice session, Patison qualified at a time of 18.48 around the half mile oval, missing the pole by .06 but still good enough for second quick.

Disappointing finish for Jason Patison and SWR Team
Coming off of a top-5 finish in the Camping World West Series at Iowa Speedway, Jason Patison and his Speed Wong Racing Team were looking for another strong run as they traveled to Colorado on June 7th.  After struggling in practice, posting just the 14th quickest time out of the 22 entrants, Patison’s team went to work making changes on the car before qualifying and those changes paid dividends.  The E3 Sparkplugs/ Lucas Oil machine circled Colorado National Speedway in 16.81 seconds, good enough to start 6th for the Toyota/Napa 150.

Great Points Day for Jason Patison and the SWR Team
Jason Patison, driver of the Speed Wong Racing #17 Ford Fusion, had an exciting weekend at Iowa Speedway, a 7/8 mile track built and owned by legendary NASCAR driver Rusty Wallace.  Patison qualified 10th out of the NASCAR West drivers and 19th overall out of the 54 East and West entries, over a dozen of which were fielded by Sprint Cup teams.

Another Top 10 Finish for Jason Patison
Coming off of their 12th place finish at Phoenix International Raceway, Jason Patison and the Speed Wong Race team rolled into Thunder Hill Raceway for the All Sate 150.  It was Patison’s first visit to the 3/8 mile track but he quickly got up to speed, posting the 3rd fastest time in practice 1.  The number 17 machine was a little loose qualifying but still posted the 5th fastest lap out of the 23 car field.

Patison Sets Track Record and Wins Series Finale
Jason Patison and team traveled to I-10 Speedway in Blythe, CA for the 2007 Lucas Oil ASA Modified series finale.  Patison’s crew chief Steve Teets made some set-up changes for this event and it paid off, the number 80 machine circled the track at a time of 14.74, a new track record!  During the driver’s meeting Patison rolled a 6, putting him on the outside of row 3 for the 75 lap main event.

Win #4 For Patison

Jason Patison Encouraged Despite Disappointing Finish
Jason Patison and his #17 NASCAR West Team traveled to Altamont for the 200 lap series finale.  This was the first time Jason had been to the track and was only his second NASCAR West event.  “Going into this race I was just hoping to qualify in the front half and keep the car in one piece,” Jason explained during a pre-race interview.  Out of the box Jason and the #17 were a bit off the pace, posting 25th quick time out of 33 entrants during the 1st practice session.  After several adjustments by crew chief Steve Teets and several adjustments to his line, Jason and the team improved by half a second, posting 16th quick in practice number 2.

Jason Patison Wins his 3rd Series Race of 2007

The day didn’t start out the way he had planned but it ended up great for Jason Patison and team.  After qualifying 4th out of 27 entrants, Jason lined up for the trophy dash, inside of Joey Mogar in the second row.  Patison and Mogar battled side by side but as they headed down the front straight away on lap 2, sparks started trailing out of the back of Patison’s car.  Unfortunately Jason didn’t realize he had a problem until he entered turn one and the car violently shot up the track and collected the number 5 of Mogar.  The wreck only caused cosmetic damage to Mogar’s ride but severely crippled the right front of Patison’s.

Jason Patison Finishes 4th in NASCAR Grand National Debut
This 4th of July at Irwindale Speedway, Jason Patison Racing debuted their #17 Jim Beam, Lucas Oil Ford Fusion NASCAR Grand National West car.  34 teams in all showed up for the 200 lap event and as usual qualifying was extremely tight.  After having to switch out an expired fuel cell and some other minor changes to get the car through tech, Jason made it out for the last half of the final practice session and only had a few laps to get a feel for qualifying.  Luckily the #17 had tested the previous week so they decided to revert back to that set-up for their qualifying effort.
