Win #4 for Jason Patison

This past Saturday night the Lucas Oil ASA Modified Series traveled to I-10 Speedway in Blythe Ca for stop number 8 in the 9 race series.  Competition was tight as usual, points leader Danny Gay out qualified Patison by three-hundreths of a second, taking the pole for the 75 lap main event.  During the driver’s meeting Gay rolled a 4 for the invert putting him and Patison in row number 2 for the drop of the green.

The initial start was nullified when 6 cars tangled at the start finish line, eliminating 2 of them from competition.  On the ensuing restart Patison got a great jump, hanging right on the bumper of race leader Billy Johanek and squeezing out 2nd place Jimmy Dickerson.  Four laps later Patison found his way under Johanek with Gay following close behind.  The next 40 laps saw a great race between Patison and Gay,  Patison navigated the high-groove around the 3/8 mile track, allowing Gay to pull underneath several times to challenge for the lead.  Patison was able to hold of the advances and eventually pulled away over the final 30 laps.  Patison crossed the finish line 10 car lengths ahead of Gay to claim his series leading, 4th victory of the season.  Jimmy Dickerson, Chris Gerchman and Scott Brown rounded out the top-five.  The final stop of the Lucas Oil Modified Series will be at I-10 Speedway on November 10th.  The series races are televised on the Versus network so check your local listing for airdates and times or visit www.lucasoil.com
